Mahrukh Hussain

Mahrukh Hussain has over 25 years of experience as a trusted legal advisor and corporate executive.  She currently serves as General Counsel & Corporate Secretary for United Natural Foods, Inc. (NYSE:  UNFI), a Fortune 150 company and North America's premier grocery wholesaler delivering the widest variety of fresh, branded, and owned brand products to more than 30,000 locations throughout North America.  At UNFI, Mahrukh is a member of the C-suite, serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors, and leads a team of over 90 professionals on the Legal, Real Estate, Loss Prevention and Security and Cybersecurity teams.  

Prior to UNFI, Mahrukh worked at McDonald’s Corporation for 21 years, where she served in a number of general counsel roles, including Interim Global General Counsel, US General Counsel, Europe General Counsel (based in Geneva, Switzerland), and Chief Commercial and Privacy Officer.  Before joining McDonald’s, Mahrukh was an associate at Schwartz, Cooper, Greenberger & Krauss and a judicial clerk for Justice Rita Garman, Illinois Appellate Court – Fourth District. 

Mahrukh earned her B.A. from the University of Chicago and her J.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Mahrukh is a founding member of MBA Chicago and previously served on its Board of Directors.
