Nikia M. Bilal

Nikia Marie Bilal is a writer, editor, and lawyer based in Chicago, Illinois. She currently works in the nonprofit sector, overseeing grant compliance as Manager of Program Compliance at the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). A Chicago-native, Nikia earned her B.A. in Communications from Loyola University Chicago and her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. In 2007, she was one of the founding partners of Amal Law Group, LLC, a boutique Chicago law firm run by six Muslim women, and was with the firm until 2018. While there, her practice areas included litigation with a focus on landlord-tenant disputes, consumer protection and breach of contract claims. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Ta’leef Collective since 2021 and currently serves as their Compliance Officer. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading fiction, and writing.
